Special guest at Innovations@DOMOTEX Talks in Hall 6
Hannover. His work has changed the design world and become an integral part of millions of people’s lives. Ross Lovegrove is widely regarded as one of the world’s most influential and visionary industrial designers. The Welsh design legend will be visiting Hannover, Germany, to attend DOMOTEX 2015, where he will speak on 17 January at the Innovations@DOMOTEX Talks in Hall 6.
There are no pointy corners or sharp edges to be found on any of Ross Lovegrove’s design works. The London-based designer takes his inspiration from the soft, flowing forms and structures typically found in nature, which he then realizes in high-tech materials. The outcome of this process is the signature design style that gave rise to Lovegrove’s worldwide renown. Ross Lovegrove has worked for iconic design firms like Knoll International in Paris and collaborated with two of his equally well-known contemporaries, Philipp Starck and Jean Nouvel, to develop new design concepts for Louis Vuitton, Hermès and Dupont.
The client portfolio of Lovegrove’s own design firm, Studio X, which he founded in 1990 in London, reads like a Who’s Who of the international design scene, featuring names like: Cappellini, Sony, Apple, Driade, Zanotta, Mandarina Duck, Kartell, Artemide and Herman Miller. Lovegrove has also worked on projects for Airbus, Ceccotti, Idee, Moroso, Peugeot, Issey Miyake, VitrA-Bad, Olympus, Yamagiva, Tag Heuer, Japan Airlines, British Airways and Philips.
His designs have featured in many international exhibitions, including at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and in the Centre Pompidou in Paris. In 2005, Lovegrove was selected as the winner of the World Technology Award by Time magazine and CNN. That same year, he received the prestigious Red Dot Award for his work on the VitrA range of bathroom products. “Ross Lovegrove has shaped the design world like no other; he is internationally regarded as one of the design industry’s leading visionaries. That’s why we are delighted that he has agreed to share his design vision and to dialogue with other renowned experts from the international design and architecture scene, right here at the Hannover Exhibition Center,” said Dr. Jochen Köckler, a member of Deutsche Messe’s Managing Board.
