Heimtextil India Sets the Benchmark for Home Furnishing and Textile Innovations

Mumbai, India - The debut edition of Heimtextil India – the world’s most renowned home furnishing and textile trade fair, proved to be an outstanding trade platform as it completed its three-day run on 21 June, 2014 at Pragati Maidan with several companies closing a record number of deals on the show floor.

Show appreciated for its strong order-generating potential

The latest addition to the Heimtextil brand featured 113 exhibiting companies, and attracted 6525# business visitors, including architects, interior designers, project planners, retail chains and buying agents from across the nation. Recognised as a global trend-setting platform, many companies chose to present their new collections and ranges for 2014-15 at the Indian edition of the show. With the fair’s strategic coupling with Ambiente India – the world’s leading consumer goods show, combined with the platform’s pure business-to-business structure, the event established a firm position as a sourcing destination for the domestic home fashion industry.

Show appreciated for its strong order-generating potential

Being a part of the Heimtextil fairs worldwide, Mr. Rajjnish Arora, Vice Chairman, Dicitex Furnishings Ltd remarked: “We are very glad that the event has finally arrived in India. The launch edition was organised and marketed very well. The turnout was better than our expectations with high-profile visitors and decision makers walking in every day. We received a lot of orders through the show, including international accounts from Turkey and Spain. We will surely participate again next year.”

Mr. Narender Kr Gupta, Director, ABN Textiles India Pvt Ltd was also enormously pleased with the outcome of the event. When asked for feedback, he said: “We met a lot of decision makers and overseas buyers as well as closed around 200 deals during the three days of the fair. We are very happy with our participation at Heimtextil India.”

The fair’s business-generating potential was resonated by most exhibitors, including industry giants D’Decor Exports, Punikim Textiles Pvt Ltd (Dimora), Birla Century, The Woolmark Company, Indian Drape Pvt Ltd and others. Thrilled with the response to their new collection at Heimtextil India, Mr. Deepak Raghani, Devaa Textiles (New Castle) said: “Launching our collection at Heimtextil India was a good decision, as we met the right visitor profile and got substantial orders through the show, which has convinced us to consider participating again next year. The conversion rate was much better compared to other shows as there were no unwanted walk-ins. This saved considerable time allowing us to concentrate purely on business.”

The launch of the world’s two most renowned consumer goods trade fairs had already created business optimism among the domestic home fashion industry. Highly impressed with the range of collections and home decor solutions on display, visitors agreed that Heimtextil India is an event that could not be missed. Among them were Mr. Amit Kumar, Deputy Manager – Seller Business Development, Snapdeal.com who said: “Ambiente and Heimtextil, two of the biggest consumer good‘s brands in India, being held together makes it easier for bulk buyers like Snapdeal. We have been able to find many products that we can source from at one easy location. I have met with new sellers, seen brand new products in Home Furnishing as well as in Interior Décor and am very impressed with the fair.“

Project planner and Proprietor of Fab Craft, Ms. Priyanka Rajoria, shared that visiting Heimtextil India was truly a ‘splendid experience’. She noted: “Heimtextil India makes a great sourcing platform because most of the collections on display are new or have just been launched. With so many premier brands at one platform, it becomes easy to compare prices and get competitive deals. I have just signed up with more than 5 brands for my upcoming projects and look forward to visiting the show again next year.”

A special Turkey pavilion at the fair saw some of the most prominent Turkish home furnishing and textile companies presenting their latest collections and already found buyers lining up for samples and orders. “We came to source Home Furnishings and Décor for our retail outlets and have found a good mix of home textiles and interior décor. We were very impressed with the sheers at the Turkish Pavilion and look to source from them after our internal analysis. The ideas and product ranges presented were very interesting.“ said Ms. Sheetal Shah, Assistant Manager – Design, Future Retail Ltd.

Commenting on the ease of participation and their overall experience at Heimtextil India, Mr. Taha Hasan, Regional Sales Director, Aydin Tekstil – a leading Turkish brand, said: “Heimtextil India presented a great opportunity to meet with our existing clients in India and develop new contacts. The organisers took care of everything and made it very easy for us concentrate on achieving our marketing goals. The quality of visitors was very satisfying, and we are expecting a 90% conversion rate through inquiries generated at the fair.”

Concurrent Conference highlights growing opportunities in digital textile printing

Held concurrently with the exhibition was a one-day South Asia Digital Textile Conference which served as a catalyst for digital textile printing technology and the new revenue model it presents for traditional printers. Participants at the conference unanimously agreed that with India being the 2nd largest textile producer in the world, digital printing in textiles can provide a massive boost to textile consumption both in the domestic and export market.

Speaking about the growing applications of digital printing in textiles, Mr. Rana Raychoudhury, Worldwide Principal Technical Consultant (HP Large-Format Production), Hewlett-Packard Ltd said: “We participated at Heimtextil in Frankfurt, Tokyo and now in India and believe that this is the perfect meeting ground to connect with industry professionals and educate them about the freedom that digital printing offers textile businesses. The session was well attended with a lot of questions and inputs from the audience. Even after the session, a lot people came to our stall with inquiries. The home fashion industry presents a lot of creative opportunities and digital printing opens room for experimentation.”

Well-attended by professionals from the design, consulting and production sides, the conference brought economical and technical aspects of digital textile printing to the forefront, and highlighted the future roadmap for the industry. Mr. Deepak Arora, Senior Manager, Indo Count Industries who attended the sessions remarked: “High speed digital printing is the next big revolution that will lead the textile industry, and the seminar was a great place to gain an understanding of what international and domestic companies are doing in this sector.  The seminar gave me a good insight about the future of digital printing in textiles, and how we can incorporate it in our line of business.” He further added: “I also had the chance to visit the show after the seminar and found some very interesting products. I believe Heimtextil India is really a good platform for all textile manufacturer and exporters to exchange the ideas and meet with buyers.”

Also in attendance was Mr. Ramkrishna Bera, AGM Process, Welspun India Ltd who thought that the sessions were really insightful for those thinking of investing in this technology. He commented: “The topic on computerised colour matching, in particular, seemed very promising, and we would like to invest on that. South Asia Digital Textile Conference was a great initiative and would surely benefit & give insight on the competitiveness of the domestic market.”

Heimtextil is a part of the Messe Frankfurt Texpertise Network which is a combination of the world’s most important textile trade fairs. The next edition of the show will take place in 2015.
